The topic my group selected for our
documentary was Haggin Hall. Over the course of making the
documentary we struggled with a couple things. We mostly struggled
with I feel finding interesting people to talk to interview about
Haggin hall. It was very easy to interview current Haggin residents
and those who recently moved out of Haggin. But it was difficult
finding interesting people to interview people such as workers at
Haggin and especially those who lived their long ago. Without a large
amount of variety of interviews it was difficult to keep the
documentary interesting. The thing Im most proud of from this
documentary was that we were able to put it all together in a short
amount of time working around a group of peoples schedules. It became
extremely difficult to meet together and work on the project
especially the closer we got to finals. We eventually found ways to
work around the schedule conflicts of the group and were able to meet
and work on it separately without a problem. Things sort of just came
together. If I could change anything about this documentary it would
be to use a much better camera next time. We shot the entire
documentary on cell phones. While it ended up working out fine in the
end the shots were at times crude and difficult to work with. If my
group had used a better cameras I feel like the documentary would
have flowed better and that the documentary would have been a lot
more visually stimulating than it was. Also the better camera would
have allowed us to get better shots of Haggin and that we would not
have been limited by our camera and what it could do. If we had six
months to make this documentary I think the documentary would be
largely the same except for a few things. The first would be that we
would have gone in a lot more detail about the history of Haggin hall
and would have interviewed more people. We would have found more
people that lived at Haggin a long time ago and got their reaction to
it getting torn down. Finally, if we had more time to work on this I
think in our documentary we would have gone into way more detail
about the Haggin Klair relationship and talk about what both those
places have meant to this campus over the past few decades. In this
project I was responsible for couple things. I was responsible for
getting several interviews in the documentary. I got most of the
interviews that were used in the documentary. I was also responsible
for getting a lot of the shots of Haggin that we used and I got a lot
of the shots that we used of the outside of Haggin hall. Like any
group project there are going to be issues within the group. I tried
to minimize those issues by being very friendly and approachable and
willing to help out. I felt that if we were going to get this project
done that we would have to make comprises with each other and I felt
as if myself and my group members did that very well. I also felt
like if this project was going to get done I would have to do my fair
share which I did do.
